Exterminate It!

It is a well-known fact that there are tons of viruses out there that target the Windows operating system. To keep your system and your data safe, you need to use a security solution – like for example Exterminate It!, a tool developed by Curio Laboratories, a tool that blends together malware detection capability with a virus scanner.

The Exterminate It! installation file is 165MB in size; even on a high-speed internet connection it may take a bit for the download to complete. Once you have this 165MB installer, run it and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. A few clicks later you will be done with the installation.

Buttons for all the features and functions offered by Exterminate It! are clearly presented on the left hand side. Chief among them is a large Start Scan button that allows you to launch an on-demand scan. You can choose between a Memory Scan, Smart Scan, Full Scan, and a Custom Scan. Once you start the scan, Exterminate It! will start analyzing your machine with the aim of uncovering malware and viruses. Once the scan completes, the application will present a scan log – and if any malware is found, Exterminate It! will remove it.

Speaking about the malware removal feature, it must be mentioned that only an activated version will do so. If your version is not activated, you will have to remove the malware manually. It must also be mentioned that Exterminate It! does not provide live (or real-time) protection. The developer said that live protection is useless because known security vulnerabilities are addressed via updates, because unknown threats cannot be stopped via live protection, and because live protection impacts your productivity.
